Karilee Wirthlin, author, facilitator, and president & CEO of KL Consulting, Inc. is a strategic visionary who works with senior marketing leaders in mid to large high-technology companies to realize the value of high stakes investments that tie marketing performance to sales performance. Some examples of recent projects include major website overhauls and leading VP-appointed teams to uncover root cause issues hampering lead generation efforts. Clients have included market leaders such as VMware, Hewlett-Packard, Plantronics, NetApp, PeopleSoft (now Oracle), Borland, Polycom and NVIDIA. Karilee began her career at Steve Jobs' NeXT Computer, which became the foundation for what is now the current Apple product line.
Karilee combines her sales support experience with her technical background and degree in Computer Science to produce large-scale, strategic website and marketing automation projects. She works with clients to clarify the objectives of their major initiative and then turn that vision into an implementation plan. Usually the client has sold their executives on an investment case (or Karilee has pulled together the investment case) for this critical initiative.
While her sales & marketing experience and technical background are valuable assets to any organization, Karilee's gift is in aligning Marketing and IT teams, motivating individual team members and bringing the team together to achieve the overall vision and business objectives of the project. Her clients report that she is a joy to work with and have the confidence that they can set her free in their organization to get the job done.
Karilee's philosophy is that no matter how much technology is put in place, the project must start with the basic questions of who is the customer and what do they need. Then, she creates a vision for project that focuses on the customer and uses that vision to guide the project through to successful completion. She takes a highly interactive approach involving executives, contributors and users to set strategic direction and priorities, define project objectives, remove political and technical roadblocks and deliver on time and on budget.
In recognition of Karilee's accomplishments, she was selected to co-author with business gurus Brian Tracy, Mark Victor Hansen, and Robert G. Allen et al. the bestselling book Create the Business Breakthrough You Want: Secrets and Strategies from the World's Greatest Mentors. This distinctive business book has been endorsed by giants such Ken Blanchard and Dr. Stephen Covey. Her inclusion in this book is based on being selected as one of "The World's Greatest Business Mentors" - an honor bestowed to only 50 professionals internationally and was a recognition her distinctive leadership in high-technology marketing.
As a long-time member of Women in Consulting (WIC), Karilee has held several leadership positions on the WIC Board of Directors, including serving as president from 2006-2007. She has also been a member of the WIC Leaders Network, an exclusive group of high-performing consultants, and is a member of Alan Weiss' Society for the Advancement of Consulting (SAC).
